Sussex Underwater Hockey Club invite people to play in a fund raising tournament in support of Sussex Cancer Fund (SCF).
The reason is important: Ollie Feest who has played at Brighton and Southsea and was Captain of Portsmouth Uni has been undergoing treatment for Testicular cancer; unfortunately, just recently, he has had to start a course of chemotherapy as his lymphatic system has also become infected!
Ollie and his family expressed a wish to increase awareness among young males aged 15 to 35 who are most at risk via a sponsored event and raise funds for The Sussex Cancer Fund in aid of The Sussex Cancer Centre at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he is receiving his treatment.
Tournament dates are as following:
Sunday 17th July.
12noon till 6pm.
Teams of up to 8 (5 in water).
If we can make it, a team costs £75.
Also, they would ask any attending player to consider joining them in a sponsored ‘Head Shave’ in support of Ollie, to take place on the day.
There will be other events taking place on the day too.
If you are interested, post it on the club’s facebook page!

Last night saw the final training session of the 09/10 year, and UoP Octopush is now closed for the summer. Training sessions will resume in late September (date TBC closer to the time).
On behalf of all the club committee, I would like to thank all members for what has been a fantastic year, and we’re proud of the job we did running the club. We gained many new faces and got plenty of new people interested in our weird little sport. As well as the numerous socials which were all brilliantly messy, we also had 2 really good away trips.
At the Annual General Meeting of the UoP Octopush Club on the 18th April, the following were confirmed as the committee for the 2010/11 academic year:
President – Rob Dalford
Vice President – Donné Caswell
Treasurer – Simon Walton
Captain – Ollie Feest
Social Secretary’s – Emma-Rose Allen and Katie Machray
Media &… Publications Secratary – Vacant
Best of luck to them all for what I’m sure will be an awesome year!
