We have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions, if you have a question that is not answered here please contact us and we will try an answer your question.

Most of the more experienced players wear shorts or spedos that are short and tight to reduce water resistance. As a result spedos are faster that some shorts.

Gloves are handy if you like your hand to stay in one piece. There are so many types and most are custom made. So talk to some of the members and see what they are using we might be able to help you sort something out. Or take a look at the British Underwater Hockey Association Website they have some gloves there. But make sure you speak to someone at the club before you part with your cash.

Pushers are handy too & always come in pairs. There are quite a few types and some are custom made. They come in wood and plastic and are different for left and right handed players. So talk to some of the members first and see what they are using we might be able to help you sort something out.

Hats to protect your ears and they are a Health & Safety requirement. You have to get two hats they come as a pair one white and one blue in various numbers. They prevent long hair from blocking your vision and protect your ears.

There are many different masks but you ideally need one with a low volume and good field of vision so you can see almost all around you. Some players use sphera mask or the Cressi Super Ochio. Masks will cost between £20 - £30 pounds maybe more.

There are three types with a valve, without a valve and some have two valves. The club has some of each so try them and see which you prefer. Prices are roughly around £7 - £18.

All the equipment should last you for many years, it drastically improves you game and its a good investment... plus with all the games we got coming up, you're going to need it if you want a chance of making the A-team.

Must be rubber, or rubber-edged. Plastic fins are not allowed as these will injure other players. Just have a look at what other members use, and ask if you're not sure what to get. Prices will vary from £20-£60. Another good piece of kit to invest in is a pair of Fin-retainers (Like big rubber bands), for about £3 they prevent you losing a fin when you need it most!!

Well fins, mask and a snorkel are the essentials. If you are really serious about the sport, then a pair of pushers, hats and a glove are also essential.

Initially, no we do not expect you to have your own equipment. The club has a supply of equipment for you to use, however it is a limited supply so we strongly recommend that you purchase your own kit, particularly if you want to play in a tournament.
