(there is a chance for a Barbarian team fo non-students who wish to play; own expenses though)

Free Taster Session

For anyone interested to see and feel what Underwater Hockey really is like: Try out the sports with us this afternoon!

If you have never played, don’t worry about equipment or anything, we can provide all. For those who have fins, mask and snorkel: bring them along! Otherwise, have your usual swimming kit and you’ll be fine.

We meet at Portsmouth Uni’ Student Union, Cambridge Road, at 4.15pm to show you the way to the pool. For everyone who already knows where Eastney swimming pool is (Melville Road, PO4 9TB), meet you at the pool by 4.30pm.

We will be in the pool for 2hrs and then head together to our local pub, The Eldon Arms, and have a pint and a Sunday Roast for £1 each!

Pub Octopush

As with our lovely little game i hear that relentless question “how the hell do you play that?”

So: everyone will have a game card, on one side the rules and on the other, score calculations (scorecard).

Rules: 9 (different) Drinks to be consumed over the space of the crawl.
As you drink you have a partner to ensure your drinking score and not lying that you did it in one when you actually did it in 5 tries.
How many attempts it takes to finish a drink gives you a specific number of points (as stated on card).
Refusal to drink results in a foul and the player receives a 3 Point deduction.
One substitution is allowed for each player during play where a non alcoholic drink may be consumed at any time in replacement of an alcoholic one, However,this is only worth a maximum of 1 point.

All rules are on the scorecards so easy to follow and remember.

Costumes: Nice and easy one here.
Octopush hats, Social/pool shirts/tour tops (anything that promotes the team) and Masks (optional, do you fancy downing a pint through your snorkel? I do!)

So, get in gear and get invloved!

Social on Friday 6th Feb

It’s been ages since the last proper social so a few of us decided to get one together for the end of exams, Friday 6th February. We still need to come up with/decide on a theme, so check out the dicussion at http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=2210176471&topic=6464 and sitck your ideas down. Then we’ll decide on it at the pub this sunday and post a proper event on here and facebook.

Bowling

We are going bowling after Training/Pub on Sunday 30th November. It’s £2.50 per game because Sundays’ are student nights at the bowling alley. So be there or be square!

Don’t forget to bring your Student ID. (Campus or NUS Card.)

(We will probably head down to the lains for 9 ish.)
